It has been awhile since I have written about a restaurant. Life’s craziness and busyness just have that knack of always getting in the way. Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to check out a fantastic new spot in Liberty Village , strategically named Liberty Commons. Did you catch their play on words there ;)!
What is Liberty Commons

First and foremost, it is a destination to work, play, and eat at. Located at 42 Liberty St., it is right in the crossfire between the residential and commercial sides of Liberty Village. It is the perfect meeting spot for that neighbourhood.
Inside Liberty Commons, is home to Alberta based brewery, Big Rock and Ontario founded restaurant group of Oliver & Bonacini. Both main ingredients to a successful social gathering can be found here which include delicious food and excellently manufactured craft beer.
Big Rock at Liberty Commons

Beer is actually brewed on site at Liberty Commons. The sub-ground brewery has taken great care and concern to install the best equipment into the establishment. Within the mutually shared entrance on the main floor, Big Rock also has a Tasting Room. Guests have the opportunity to buy branded merchandise, order a pint while waiting for a table at the restaurant or purchase tall cans and variety packs to enjoy at home.
Big Rock brews are meticulously created under the expertise of Master Brewer Connor Patrick and Dan Ellis. Popular brews include White Raspberry Berliner Weisse and Chocolate Nitro Staut, which are just two of four brews made on site.
Oliver & Bonacini at Liberty Commons

I have had the pleasure of dining and experiencing the scrumptious food and atmosphere at the Oliver and Bonacini at Bayview Village numerous times. I knew what to expect from a culinary standpoint. Upon first stepping into the restaurant at Liberty Commons, the pristine attention to detail and design make you forget that the location is actually in the basement of a building. Big windows and lots of ambient and trendy lighting make the space light and airy. Can we talk about the furniture and serve ware? Marble table tops and modern designer chairs that I secretly have on a dream home wishlist, outfitted the dining room. My perfectly cooked fish and chips were served in a metal tray. The cutlery seemed adorably mismatched. The quality of the food match the amazing quality of the environment.
It Pays to Wait

It was well worth the long anticipated arrival of this space. For months, and years – yes it is fair to say years, the people of Liberty Village and surrounding areas have been patiently waiting. The restaurant and Tasting Room were being built within a Toronto designated Heritage building owned by Hullmark Developments. In order to preserve and maintain this special space, extra precaution and design needed to be done, which ultimately added to the delay of the of the opening. At the end of the day, it is better to do something the right way rather than rushing and having to circle back to fix things unnecessarily.
For your next night out, whether it be with friends, coworkers, or family, book a reservation at Liberty Commons. You won’t be disappointed.

I don’t get the play on words, what am I missing?? I feel so dumb lol. Also, is that rice in your salad? I love craft beer! Will have to check this place out!
The bar is trying to play on the words of “I don’t give a F%$K” so instead have called it “I don’t give a SIP”. Took me a little while to figure out…
Ah. It wasn’t clear in your post. It seemed like you meant there was a pun with the name of the place…
