Who doesn’t love a surprise party? We all know how they go. Lots of planning and logistics are done without the lucky recipient knowing. And then that special moment when they walk in the door and SURPRISE! Well last weekend, we had a funny incident occur. The lucky recipient surprised the guests! I was the main coordinator and missed the key cue for when the Birthday Girl walked in the door. Instead, all of the party guests were in for a shocker when she entered the apartment and yelled, “Hello?!”. To a gasp, all of the guests responded with, “What are you doing here?”. Her reply, “I live here!”. After the confusion and looks of stunned people had subsided, we all burst into laughter and let the night begin.

With the help of some wonderful friends, we whipped up the condo into the party pad for the evening. We used KNugg’s favourite color as the main theme for the night: cobalt blue. The dollar store is somewhat limited in the shades of blue that they offer in party supplies so we had to make do with what they had. After the initial shock wore off, I made KNuggs change into her Wilfred silk dress to match the party.

The lovely and funny KNuggs turned the big 2-8. A good, solid and ripe age. Past the undergrad years, a couple of professional working years under the belt and still have a couple of solid years before the dreaded 3-0. No matter how old we are, we can always play Cards Against Humanity! And while we consumed some blue jello shots, we played many hilarious rounds with the game. I am that obsessed person that has every edition created, including the infamous Canadian edition. Always a good time.

The next time I plan a surprise party, I will do a better job standing by for the cue.
Happy Birthday KNuggs! We hope you had a blast!
